Genelle's Profile


Genelle Payant is the founder and President of Spark People Solutions and has developed a wide range of human resource and service solutions for a variety of businesses and industries.

Based in Moose Jaw, SK, Genelle has been an independent human resources consultant since 2010 and has been actively employed in the human resources field since 1997. She has successfully assisted companies implement workable human resource solutions that have resulted in improvements to workplace cultures, efficiencies, processes and profitability.

A sample of consulting assignments includes:


• Designing a comprehensive total compensation survey, including analyzing and reporting,
   for a variety of industries

• Creating a customized performance appraisal process and job descriptions for a unionized
   employer in the arts and entertainment industry

• Developing and facilitating a tailored customer service training program for various organizations

• Developing and facilitating Harassment/Bullying-Free workplace sessions to various organizations

• Conducting workplace human resource audits for several different companies,
   making recommendations and implementing agreed upon solutions

• Developing and conducting an employee engagement/satisfaction survey,
   including analyzing results and reporting on findings, for a public service employer

• Conducting a comprehensive organizational and human capital review, for a large association

• Creating and facilitating a customized cultural awareness & diversity training session to a large
   employer in the hospitality and tourism sector

• Compiling a comprehensive investigative report for a complex harassment case

• Providing strategic human resource planning direction to a rapidly growing venture capital firm

• Creating and developing several recruitment and selection initiatives for a variety of businesses
   including mining, manufacturing and retail

Corporate Experience


Genelle served as Director of Human Resources for over 7 years with Marriott Hotels of Canada in both Calgary and Edmonton, where she was responsible for strategic human resource operations for approximately 300 employees.

She was the opening Director of Human Resources for the Edmonton Marriott at River Cree Resort where she lead all the pre and post opening activities, including liaising with Marriott Regional and International Corporate Offices, the resort's Ownership Group and local First Nations leaders.

During her nearly 10 year tenure with Marriott Hotels of Canada, Genelle was recognized with several awards and appointed to a variety of Councils and Advisory committees.

Genelle has spent a total of 14 years working for some of the most respected hotel companies in the world, including Canadian Pacific Hotels (now Fairmont Hotels), Delta Hotels and Marriott International. She learned early on about the importance of delivering excellence in service and was trained by the best. She has worked directly with hotel guests in a variety of capacities, delivering outstanding service, even in the most challenging circumstances; skills she is now able to share with her clients.

Genelle holds her Chartered Professional in Human Resources designation (formerly CHRP), as well as her Certificate in Human Resource Management from the University of Calgary and her Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism from Red Deer College. She is currently nearing completion of her Bachelors Administration Degree from Athabasca University.
